Ideas for Adding an RV Bathroom
When making your very first motorhome purchase, sometimes you will choose to buy the less expensive model in an effort to save a little cash. This is actually a pretty good idea, especially if you have never spent a vacation in a recreational vehicle. By purchasing a base model, you can begin to get an idea as to whether or not camper life is for you.
The base models and pop-up RV campers will usually be void of some basic conveniences. One of the first things you will find missing in the less expensive motorhomes is a bathroom. If you do decide that camping is the perfect way for you to enjoy your vacations, then you might want to consider adding a bathroom to your RV. This doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking, but it really just depends on the type of bathroom that you decide to add.
Picking up a camping toilet or a compost toilet may seem like the easiest solution, but you must remember that there is no ability to flush with these toilets. You will need to find ways to dispose of the contents on a regular basis, even with the chemicals that a compost toilet contains. Most people will skip the trouble that these can involve, and go directly to the running water bathrooms.
Of course, the running water bathroom is the most expensive solution of the three, and may be an impossibility if you just don’t have the available room for it. There are separate tanks involved for the different water supplies, so you should be sure that your motorhome has the capability to hold them before you even begin to take the next steps.
You can check with RV parts & accessories stores to see what bathroom fixtures you can purchase for your motorhome. A sales agent should be able to show you all of the toilets that will be possible with your particular RV. You can also find sinks and vanity mirrors to complete your bathroom. Remember that the RV parts that you choose will be smaller than any of the same that you might find in your home, so they are not interchangeable. You will need to purchase bathroom faucets that are especially crafted for recreational vehicles. Not only are the smaller to fit, but they are designed to give the maximum water pressure possible without depleting your water supply.
